Best Small Business Award at the 2026 LCA Awards
Australian innovation. Global impact. An award we are proud to bring home!
We are proud to have won the Best Small Business Award at Lighting Council Australia’s 2026 Lighting Industry Excellence Awards. For our team at Solar Bollard Lighting, this recognition celebrates more than two decades of Australian innovation, trusted partnerships and a commitment to quality.
From our base in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, we’ve taken our Australian-designed and manufactured commercial-grade solar lighting into more than 40 countries. Working across different markets and continents has helped us understand our customers’ challenges, adapt to local conditions and continually improve the solutions we deliver.
We invest approximately 11% of our annual revenue in research, engineering and product development. That investment enables us to solve practical problems from flooding and vandalism to providing reliable lighting where grid-connected infrastructure is impractical.
“We are a small business making a difference globally, and we’re proud to see our product installations helping communities around the world. We listen to our customers, continually improving what we design, manufacture and install, ensuring we supply them a fit-to-purpose product that lasts. Sustainability and the environmental impacts of our solar lighting, guides our design from long life cycles, then material recovery at end of life, to reducing light pollution, whilst considering wildlife and surrounding eco-habitats. Our confidence in our products is why we can back them with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty covering the battery and genuine SBL pole as well,” says our Founder, Mike Arieni.
SBL’s commitment extends beyond our products. As an Accredited Member of Lighting Council Australia and a contributor to the Commercial Solar Lighting Technical Specification, we share our expertise and advocate for stronger standards, transparent specifications and better sustainable procurement decisions.
We also work closely with Australian electronics designers, engineers, manufacturing partners and circular economy organisations. These collaborations strengthen local capability and help us bring Australian Made innovation to international markets.
“SBL demonstrates how a relatively small Queensland manufacturer can make a global contribution through innovation, collaboration and industry leadership. Their investment in research, commitment to sustainability and willingness to share expertise help raise expectations of what commercial solar lighting can deliver and uplift industry standards, ” said Malcolm Richards, CEO of the Lighting Council Australia
This recognition follows our 2024 Sustainability Award LCA awarded us with and encourages us to keep improving our products and how we contribute to the industry.
Thank you to our team, partners, distributors and customers for being part of this achievement. And congratulations to the winners across all the other categories; it’s a pleasure to be recognised alongside you.
